The World Kitchen is a celebration of one country represented in Aalborg. We focus on the food, stories and cultural background of the ambassador(s) and so far Syria, Morocco, Pakistan, Eritrea, Peru, Aceh (Indonesia), Poland and Greenland have been our guests. Over the next few months we look forward to welcome Côte D'Ivoire, Greece, Bangladesh and Colombia. There is always vegetarian and vegan options.

THE COLONIAL KITCHEN 2019

@Folkekirkens Hus

The Colonial Kitchen ask ambassadors from a former colonial power and two of its former colonies  to plan, cook and serve a meal together. After the meal is served, they present their common history as well as talk about how colonialism has affected their lives. To finish off the evening we enjoy music, dance or poetry relating to the past, present and future relationship between the countries.

During the spring of 2017, we featured Afghanistan vs. US, Pakistan vs. India, Somalia, Russia vs. Ukraine and finally Palestine vs. Israel.

THE CRISIS KITCHEN 2018

@Folkekirkens Hus

In the spring of 2018 we found an ambassador with a cause and linked this to his or her country. During five evenings, we learned more about issues such as political street art in Egypt, biodiverity in Italy, populism in Venezuela, feminism in the Philippines and human rights in Iran.

There is always vegetarian and vegan options.

BORDERLINE 2018

@Folkekirkens Hus

In February 2018, The World Kitchen diverted into the tragy-comedy genre, when we brought the theatregroup PsycheDelight over from the UK and put their play Borderline on at Folkekirkens Hus. Through laughter and humour, the actors from Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan, Italy, UK, France and Iran made a full house reflect on the socalled European refugee crisis and our treatment of "the others" arriving on our doorsteps.
